The Eco Index initiative has been facilitated by Zero Waste Alliance (ZWA), a Portland, Oregon-based 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on developing standards, tools and practices that lead to a more sustainable future. ZWA collaborates with universities, government, businesses and other organizations working to develop, promote and apply zero waste and sustainability strategies for the benefit of current and future generations.
Portland Development Commission
Created by Portland voters in 1958, Portland Development Commission (PDC) has played a major role in keeping Portland one of America's most livable cities. PDC is working to make the City of Portland the most sustainable city in the world by investing in high performance buildings and green streets, ecosystem restoration, businesses that create sustainable economic opportunities for all, green and healthy affordable housing, and social equity policies and practices. PDC’s generous financial support has played a critical role in making the Eco Index a reality.
American Apparel & Footwear Association
The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) is the national trade association representing apparel, footwear and other sewn products companies, and their suppliers, which compete in the global market.
Ceres (pronounced “series”) is a national network of investors, environmental organizations and other public interest groups working with companies and investors to address sustainability challenges. Ceres is recognized for its ability to broker direct, honest engagement about sustainability issues between stakeholders and companies. Ceres is directing the stakeholder engagement outreach for the Eco Index to ensure the Index receives input from the environmental advocacy and expert communities.
